The History of Recipes
It is quite feasible to prove the history of recipes way back into distant history, certainly as far into history as the early Egyptians, and potentially, even further back. Interesting though that maybe, mostly, these early cookbooks were just very simple hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for preparing meals.
Closer to modern times, there are two interesting books dating from the 14th Century - a cookery book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are a little misleading though, these are not about the indian food that is served today, but instead accounts of the types of meals on the tables of the nobility of the period. Later, in the 15th century, the Crusaders brought back many spices and herbs from the holy land, including coriander, basil and rosemary. The introduction of these new tastes caused an increase in recipe publications, the majority of which are kept safe in private cookery archives. Like it or not, the introduction of TV brought us cooking programs and the accompanying recipe books. And that pretty much brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, allowing us all to search through thousands of recipes such as those found on sites such as this. |
We hope you enjoy this Christmas Fruit Cookies Whnp81a recipe.
