The History of Recipes
Transcribed cooking instructions as an idea can be tracked far back into distant history, in truth as far back as the Egyptians, and quite possibly further than that. Interesting though that is, mostly, these old cook books were just very simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
Moving our culinary historical trip onwards, we find two interesting recipe books from the fourteenth century - a recipe book called `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these books are unconnected to the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but rather descriptions of the types of food served to the rich and wealthy people of the period. In the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought back many new foods, spices and herbs from the holy lands, including spices like coriander, parsley, and rosemary. These new foods and tastes caused an eruption in recipe publications, most of which still exist in private collections. The arrival of TV gave us celebrity TV chefs and the spin-off recipe books. Which pretty much brings us up to date and the invention of computers and the internet, allowing us all to access massive numbers of recipes like the ones you can find on sites such as the one you are reading now. |
We hope you enjoy this Columbian Fresh Banana Cake With Sea Foam Fro recipe.
