The History of Recipes
We can follow the history of `recipes` back into the distant past, certainly as far as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and possibly even further. In practice though, generally, these early recipes were just simple hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for meal preparation.
Later on, there are a couple of cookery books published in the 1300s : a recipe book called `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, these two books have no connection with the indian curry that appears on menues today, but instead accounts of the types of food enjoyed by the rich people of that time. Later on in the 1400s, the Crusaders brought back a variety of foods and spices from the holy land, including spices such as coriander, parsley, basil and rosemary. These new culinary innovations led to an explosion in books on cookery, some of which are kept safe in private cookery archives. The introduction of the TV brought us TV cooks and the demand for the spin-off recipe books. And that pretty much brings us to the present day and the internet revolution, permitting everyone to search through massive numbers of recipes just like those on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this Perogie Puffs recipe.
