The History of Recipes
We are able to read the history of written recipes back into the far past, certainly as far back as early Egypt, and possibly even further. Interesting though that maybe, these, old recipes were just basic pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for food preparation.
As we move on, we have two interesting books which appeared in the 1300s ; a cookery book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary named `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, these books are unconnected to the spicy food that is served today, but instead recipes for the types of food on the menues of the wealthy. By the advent of the 20th century, cooking publications are in high demand, mostly as a result of better eduction, more free time and having more money to spend. |
