The History of Recipes
It is actually possible to trace the history of written cooking instructions back into history, at least as far into history as pharonic Egypt, and potentially, even further back. Interesting though that is, in the main part, these early cookbooks were just simple hieroglyphic recipes for meal preparation.
Moving on, there are two recipe books which were published in the fourteenth century - a recipe book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, they are unconnected to the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but instead accounts of the types of food on the tables of the rich and wealthy people of that time. By the advent of the 1900s, recipe publications are in great demand, as a result of better eduction, people having increased spare time and being a little richer. |
