Ingredients
2 jalapeno chiles seeded and chopped
2 tbsp minced onion
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup cream
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tbsp butter
Directions
This is creamy, hot and perfect to serve with noodles or grilled
meats. PLACE ALL INGREDIENTS except butter in a saucepan over medium
heat and cook until reduced by about 1/2. Pour into a blender and
puree. Replace the sauce in the saucepan, place over low heat and
whisk in the butter. Makes 1 1/2 Cups

The History of Recipes
We can follow the history of meal recipes back into the far past, certainly as far back into recorded history as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and possibly even further. Interesting though that is, in the main part, these ancient cook books were just very simple pictorial recipes for meal preparation.
Later, we have a couple of recipe books published in the 1300s - one book published under the title `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these are not about the spicy food that appears on menues today, but rather recipes for the types of food on the menues of the rich and powerful of that time. By the time we get to the 20th century, cooking publications are highly popular as a result of increased literacy, increased leisure time and having more money. |
