The History of Recipes
It is possible to trace the history of `recipes` way back into ancient history, in fact as far as the early Egyptians, and possibly even further. In practice though, these, ancient recipes were just basic pictorial recipes for preparing food.
Later, we have two books dating from the 1300s - a book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Despite their titles, they have no connection with the curry that appears on menues today, but instead descriptions of the types of food on the tables of the rich and powerful of the period. Later, in the fifteenth century, knights returning from the crusades brought us many new foods, spices and herbs from middle-east cuisine, such as coriander, parsley, and basil. The introduction of these new tastes was responsible for an outbreak in manuscripts on food, some of which are now in academic collections. The arrival of television brought us celebrity TV chefs and the accompanying recipe books. Which pretty much brings us up to date and the internet revolution, permitting us all to search through thousands of recipes such as those found on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this Chinese Pepper Steak With Coke recipe.
