The History of Recipes
We can track the history of written recipes way back into antiquity, in fact as far back into recorded history as pharonic Egypt, and potentially, even further back. However, in the main part, these early cookbooks were just very simple hieroglyphic recipes for preparing meals.
Later on, there were a couple of books which were published in the fourteenth century - a book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Surprisingly, these are not about the indian curry that appears on menues today, but rather recipes for the types of food on the menus of the rich and wealthy people of that time. Later on in the 1400s, people returning from the crusades brought us a variety of foods and herbs from the holy land, including spices like coriander, basil and rosemary. These new herbs and spices prompted an increase in recipe books, some of which still exist in private collections. The introduction of the TV brings us TV chefs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. Which brings us neatly to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, permitting us all to search through thousands of recipes just like those on our web site. |
We hope you enjoy this Chocolate Chip Crispers Cookies recipe.
