The History of Recipes
We are able to track the history of `recipes` back into history, certainly as far back into history as the early Egyptians, and potentially, even further back. Interesting though that maybe, generally, these early cook books were just very basic hieroglyphic recipes for preparing food.
As we move on, there are a couple of recipe books dating from the fourteenth century ; one book called `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these two books have no connection with the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but rather accounts of the types of food cooked for the rich and wealthy people of the time. Later, in the fifteenth century, the Crusaders brought back a variety of foods, spices and herbs from the Middle-East, including spices like rosemary and coriander. These new spices and herbs created an explosion in recipe publications, most of which are now in private cookery archives. The revolution that is television brought us TV cooks and the spin-off recipe books. Which pretty much brings us to the present day and the invention of computers and the internet, permitting everybody to access thousands of recipes like those on our web site. |
We hope you enjoy this Chocolate Hanukkah Stars recipe.
