The History of Recipes
We can trace the history of `recipes` back into ancient history, certainly as far into history as the Egypt of the Pharoahs, and possibly even further than that. Interesting though that maybe, generally, these early recipes were just simple hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for food preparation.
Later on, we have a couple of interesting recipe books published in the 14th Century ; one book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another called `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these are nothing to do with the curry that is familiar to us all today, but rather descriptions of the types of meals on the menus of the nobility of those days. Later on in the 1400s, knights returning from the crusades brought back many foods and spices from the holy lands, such as basil and coriander. These new spices and herbs prompted a surge in manuscripts on cooking, most of which are now in academic collections. The introduction of the TV brings us cooking programs and the demand for the spin-off recipe books. And that brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, allowing us all to access massive numbers of recipes like those on sites such as this. |
We hope you enjoy this Chocolate Soup With Whipped Cream recipe.
