1 4 avocados -- seed,peel
Directions
2 TB lemon juice
1 clove garlic -- crushed
1 tomato -- finely chopped
1/4 c onion -- finely chopped
1/4 ts ground cumin
4 dr hot pepper sauce
: Tortilla chips
Using a fork, coarsely mash avocado with lemon juice and garlic. Stir
in remaining ingredient to blend. Garnish as desired and serve with
tortilla chips.

The History of Recipes
Experts have traced the existance of recipes way back into history, certainly as far back into recorded history as ancient Egypt, and maybe even further. Having said that, generally, these old cookbooks were just very simple hieroglyphic instructions for preparing food.
Closer to modern times, there were a couple of recipe books which date from the 1300s - a book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary titled `Curye on Inglish`. Perhaps surprisingly, they have no connection with the spicy food that we all know today, but rather descriptions of the types of meals prepared for the rich and wealthy people of the period. By the arrival of the 1900s, cookery publications are highly popular mostly due to better eduction, increased leisure time and having more money to spend. |
