3 cup long-grain rice
4 cup coconut milk
1 1/2 cup water

Wash the rice & drain. Place in a heavy pot, add the milk, water,
salt & sugar, mix, cover & bring to a boil. Let it boil for 3 to 5

The History of Recipes
Food historians have proved the existence of recipes back into the distant past, certainly as far back as early Egypt, and maybe further still. However, these, ancient cook books were just very basic hieroglyphic or cunieform instructions for meal preparation.
Progressing into The time of the romans 25BC a man called Apicius assembled a number of scripts describing recipes cooked by wealthy Romans. In his works, Apicius tells us how the meals were separated into hors d`oeuvre, main course and desserts, a style of dining still practiced today. He also describes how the Roman chefs used many different spices and herbs, including some that we all recognise such as thyme, fennel and parsley. In the 15th century, the Crusaders brought back many foods and herbs from the holy lands, including coriander, basil and rosemary. The introduction of these new foods and spices prompted an increase in recipe books, many of which are now in academic collections. The introduction of television brought us cooking programs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. And that neatly brings us to the present day and the internet revolution, allowing us all to search through thousands of recipes like those on this site. |
