Coconut-Hazelnut Pie Shell Recipe


Ingredients

1 cup oregon hazelnuts, sliced
1 1/2 cup coconut, shredded
1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted


Directions

Combine coconut and sliced hazelnuts. Add melted margarine or butter
and mix well. Press into greased pie tin and refrigerate until firm
(2-3 hours).

The History of Recipes

During the next few hundred years, the rich and powerful families of Europe competed with each other to serve up the most exotic meals, and as a result chefs and their recipes increased in prestige. However, it wasn`t until the nineteenth century that fine cookery and recipe books became popular. Mrs Beeton in the UK, and the equally famous Fannie Merritt Farmer in the US, dedicated years of their lives to collecting, trying out, and writing down recipes to help cooks of their time.

By the time we get to the twentieth century, cookery publications are in high demand, mostly due to increased literacy, more spare time and a general increase in wealth.
