The History of Recipes
We can track the history of meal recipes far back into history, in truth as far back into history as the ancient Egyptians, and maybe further still. Interesting though that maybe, mostly, these old recipes were just primitive pictorial recipes for meal preparation.
Later, we find a couple of interesting cookery books which date from the 14th Century ; one book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Although the titles sound familiar, these two books are unconnected to the indian food that is familiar to us all today, but rather accounts of the types of meals eaten by the rich people of that period. Later on in the 1400s, people returning from the crusades brought back many new spices and herbs from Arab cuisine, including parsley and basil. The introduction of these new herbs and spices led to a torrent in recipe publications, most of which still exist in private cookery archives. The introduction of the TV gave us celebrity chefs and the accompanying recipe books. Which brings us neatly to the present day and the internet revolution, permitting everybody to access massive numbers of recipes just like those on this site. |
We hope you enjoy this Coffee Liqueur Mayan Chili recipe.
