The History of Recipes
We are able to read the history of `recipes` way back into history, certainly as far into history as the ancient Egyptians, and possibly even further. Interesting though that maybe, generally, these ancient recipes were just simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for food preparation.
As we move on, there were a couple of interesting recipe books which date from the 1300s - a cookery book entitled `Forme of Cury`, and another titled `Curye on Inglish`. Amusingly, these two books have no connection with the indian food that is popular today, but instead accounts of the types of meals on the tables of the rich and powerful of those days. Later, in the fifteenth century, knights returning from the crusades brought back many spices and herbs from middle-east cuisine, such as coriander, basil and rosemary. These new spices and herbs created an explosion in recipe publications, many of which are now in private cookery archives. The revolution that is television brings us cooking programs and the accompanying recipe books. And that neatly brings us to the present day and the invention of the internet, permitting us all to search through massive numbers of recipes just like those on our site. |
We hope you enjoy this Confetti Dressing recipe.
