1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg
1 tsp orange rind, grated

The History of Recipes
It is quite feasible to track the history of transcribed cooking instructions way back into history, in fact as far back as the ancient Egyptians, and possibly even further. Having said that, these, ancient cook books were just very basic hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
Moving on, there were some interesting books which date from the 1300s - one book titled `Forme of Cury`, and another, similary entitled `Curye on Inglish`. Don`t be fooled by the titles though, these two books are nothing to do with the curry that we all know today, but instead accounts of the types of food on the tables of the rich and powerful of the time. By the advent of the 1900s, cookery publications are greatly in demand mostly due to more people being able to read, more spare time and having more money. |
