The History of Recipes
Historians have tracked the existence of recipes far back into ancient history, in fact as far back into history as early Egypt, and quite possibly further than that. Interesting though that is, mostly, these ancient cookbooks were just very simple pictorial instructions for food preparation.
As our culinary historical trip moves to more modern times there were some books which appeared in the fourteenth century - a recipe book called `Forme of Cury`, and another entitled `Curye on Inglish`. The titles are somewhat misleading tho`, these books have no connection with the curry that we all know today, but rather recipes for the types of food cooked for the wealthy. In the 15th century, people returning from the crusades brought us a variety of foods and herbs from middle-east cuisine, including coriander, parsley, and basil. These new foods and tastes created an outbreak in publications on food, most of which still exist in private libraries. The introduction of television gave us TV chefs and the demand for the accompanying recipe books. Which pretty much brings us to the present day and the internet revolution, permitting everyone to search through massive numbers of recipes like the ones you can find on sites such as the one you are reading now. |
We hope you enjoy this Popcorn Granola recipe.
