The History of Recipes
It is possible to trace the history of meal recipes back into the distant past, certainly as far back into history as ancient Egypt, and maybe further still. However, generally, these ancient records were just very simple pictorial, hieroglyphic or cunieform recipes for meal preparation.
Later, there are two recipe books which appeared in the 14th Century : a cookery book called `Forme of Cury`, and another named `Curye on Inglish`. Surprisingly, these books have no connection with the indian food that we all know today, but instead descriptions of the types of meals on the menues of the rich and wealthy people of that time. By the time we get to the 1900s, recipe publications were highly popular mostly as a result of increased literacy, people having more spare time and having more money to spend. |
